Gretsch G5120 – With FREE Shipping

g5120The Gretsch G5120 Electromatic is a stylish, tasteful and great sounding professional guitar.

It's also made to a high standard unlike some of Gretsch's earlier efforts. This is a much higher quality guitar than you would expect for the price.

It has outstanding finish, setup, tone, value, electrics and color with a uniqueness factor of 9.

Some people worry about the tuning of Gretsches but I can say I've never had a problem with that, even with the older models.

Prepare to make a great twangin' noise with this guitar. If you're into rockabilly but you don't have the odd 3 grand to spare for a G6120 then this is a seriously good alternative. It does the job just as well as a 6120 perhaps with a bit less kudos.

The 2 way pickup selector on the G5120 controls the dual Gretsch humbuckers. Along with that great Gretsch twang, you can get lovely jazz tones with the humbucking neck pickup.

If you want a bit of distortion or a smooth blues tone, the bridge pickup will do the job admirably.

There are 3 tone control knobs and 1 master output control. The tone controllers give you the ability to get practically any tone you want.

For the price, usually around $700-$800, this is a quality instrument. Gretsch have had a tricky time over the years producing a good quality guitar in this price range. It seems they've pretty much hit the nail on the head with this G5120. Most reviewers have said that the quality is excellent but a lot have also complained about the setup not being perfect out of the box. But that's something you can easily fix.

Here's a good video of what the Gretsch G5120 looks and sounds like:

The Bad

  1. People have reported problems with the setup straight out of the box

"Darn! This fab guitar is worth well more than the asking price. I'm dead pleased that the Gretsch family have taken back the company and invested in the quality [editors note: actually I think Fender own it now]. Not only does it look great but it plays great too. I have hardly played any of my other guitars since I got it."
Andrew J Riemer (review rewritten for uniqueness. Read the full review here)
